Every part of the corn plant is useful in cooking and is used in many forms. In this article we are going to peel the cover of corn.

Corn is also known as maize. Maize fields or corn fields are usually spread over a large piece of  land as corn needs other corn plants for cross pollination. 

Corn plants are basically green, no tap root, and a solid stem. Corns usually sprouts at the top end of the stem. Corns are green from chlorofil and kind of cylindrical. The corn seeds have green leaves as a cover, protecting the edible part. One can see the silky hair-like structure coming out at the top that are the pollen producers. When you peel the green cover, you will see the rest of the silky hair like structures. Corn is a staple food in most parts of the world.

Corn is used in human diets as well as livestock diets and we get many products which contain corn as raw materials. Especially corn syrup that is found in most soft drinks. 

Why should you use corn? 

Corns are filled with vitamin C, antioxidants, long chain carbons and fibres. It is said to prevent diseases. It may be used in repairing cell damage caused by diseases. It may help in fighting off different diseases like eye lens deformation and heart abnormalities.

You can eat corn by making like a barbeque, which doesn’t take much time. Dried corns are used to make popcorn which are favourite movie snacks among all ages anywhere on the earth. Popcorn is a healthy snack, so it can be used to control weight.
